Last weekend I attended the Shoegazing Super Trunk Show 2016 that was arranged at Scandic Anglais in Stockholm. I had the opportunity to meet a lot of good friends, colleagues, menswear enthusiast and industry representatives. In this post I wanted to give a short report on the event and also show you a picture special from the Shoegazing Super Trunk Show 2016.

In this year’s trunk show several very interesting brands were represented: Meermin, Yanko through Skolyx, Vass, Hiro Yanagimachi and Roberto Ugolini along with the event’s partners Brunngård, Oppermann London and Frank Clegg.
The Swedish Championship in shoe shining was arranged where two of my good friends Tor and Magic Mike participated. Unfortunately none of them managed to win but I give them an A for effort! Apart from this Magic Mike also showed us how patinas are done live during the trunk show. Something that I knew takes time and requires patience, but not this much!

Rumors says that almost the trunk show had over 900 visitors, 170 pairs of shoes were purchased at a value of around 600 000 SEK and several bags, accessories and shoe care products we purchased along with that. No names mentioned but I witnessed some big spenders that bought shoes from Hiro for 19.000 SEK and added 2 Frank Clegg briefcases/bags to that. I also witnessed a late night bespoke order from one of the exhibitors, for a value of more than 20.000 SEK. A very interesting trunk show is the least you can say =)

It was a big pleasure to finally meet the Clegg brothers Ian and Andrew. For those who follow me on Instagram and here on the website, know that I’m a big fan of their products. They presented some of their new bags for this season, and I have already found some new interesting products for future investments. (read the review of the Zip Top Briefcase here).

Also a big please to once again meet Rezsö and Eva from Vass. Vass again was one of the biggest drawing cards during this year’s trunk show. I couldn’t help myself from ordering a new pair of Vass shoes, which will be arriving later this autumn. Looking forward to my first pair of cordovan shoes! (Read about my previous MTM/MTO orders from Vass: Part 1, Part 2).

Thanks to the organizers for a well executed trunk show. Already looking forward to next years edition.
